Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra Review

Hello pinchers!

As the mobile phone industry has continued to shift its attention to India and China, I have become more and more accustomed to this sort of thing. This is the Mi 10 Ultra and this is my receipt for it. We had to buy this direct from Xiaomi in China, through a contact over there and then have it sent to another contact, have that forwarded to another person and then finally, sent to us. But, at long last, we are getting our first hands-on with the world's first 120x optical zoom device. Now, as you might expect, there's no product page in English. So I'm gonna be using this mobile version of the Xiaomi 10 Extreme Memorial Edition. Does that sound like, something, like 2010 to 2020? Oh, is it a 10 year anniversary phone? So, it ' s got a lot in common with all the flagship phones right now.

Snapdragon 865 processor, 12 gigs of RAM max? 16. All the way to 16. And then we ended up with the 256 gig storage version, but you can get it with up to 512 gigs of storage. In line with the rest of it's top-tier specs, it's got an absolutely gorgeous finish. Apparently a 120Hz Display and it charges at 120 Watts. Wow, is this thing ever thick? So you can see it's, like chunky boy compared to the Note 9. It does still feel good in the hand though, actually. Credit to the folks over at Xiaomi who worked on the hand-feel of this.

The display size of this legendary phone is 6.67 inches having the weights of 221.8g. A little bit heavy but it's ok. Front glass of the phone is made of corning gorilla glass 5 while the back part is made of corning gorilla glass 6 which makes it reliable.

The side of the phone is aluminium framed. Dual sim can be used and both are used as dual standby. The display type of this phone is OLED capacitive touch screen having 1B colors. Resolution of display is 1080*2340 pixels with 386 pixel per inch density. Screen to body ratio is 89.5%. And most of all the refresh rate is 120Hz.

It's running on Android 10 with having Xiaomi's own MIUI 12 operating system. Qualcomm Snapdragon 865(7nm) is powering it. Adreno 650 has been used as GPU. Power packed built I must say. Quad camera set up for Mi ultra 10. 48 megapixel having aperture of f/1.9, 25mm wide shoot, 48 megapixel having aperture of f/4.1, 120mm periscope telephoto, 12 megapixel having aperture of f/2.0, 50mm telephoto, 20 megapixel having aperture of f/2.2, 12mm ultrawide shoot. You can shoot 8K@24 fps, video as well as 4K@30 or 60 fps. And if you want to shoot 1080 resolution, you can shoot it 30/60/120/240 and obviously 960fps. Give me a break! Incredible!!! Selfie camera is 20 megapixel with having the aperture of f/2.3, wide angle shoot.

It's extremely rounded on the corners here. So when it rests in the palm of your hand here, it's not uncomfortable in any way. Like it doesn't dig in at all. Just go ahead and flip it open. Of course it's running Xiaomi's software, which I in the past have not been a huge fan of, but who knows, maybe it's better in China. This is definitely a Chinese-only version of the phone. We have no way of getting it. But hey, you know, we just want to make sure that, you know, our Chinese bros can also watch.

Specific to the Mi turbo charged 10th Anniversary Edition. So there's two 48 megapixel sensors. Actually, sorry I'm pointing to the wrong ones. 'Cause one of them is just the main camera and the other one is using a periscope style camera. So that might explain why the body of this thing is so thick, and yet it only has a 4,500 Milliamp-hour battery. To be clear, 4500 Milliamp-hour is a lot of battery. But, given the size and weight of this puppy, this one is using for that periscope style camera. So, all right, you switch between your zoom modes like that. So that's how it's able to capture like literally a filming light bouncing off a reflector here without losing all of the detail in the darks anyway. Optically stabilized for sure, but wow, that's bad. With this camera for about an hour yesterday to get some impressions. I do not want to get at least one shot with the 120x zoom here though. That's got some digital smoothing on it, all right.

It's got HDR 10+ support, dual SIM, so much for my Wi-Fi 6 and my 5G. It might just be a regional problem. Like outside of China, can Baidu find YouTube? Apparently. All right, great. The thing is you guys. Okay, it's got an amplified earpiece speaker. So you've got stereo sound. Oh yeah, and on the subject of battery and performance, I can't show it to you, but apparently it charges 40% in just five minutes. And charges completely in 25 minutes with that 120-Watt charger. That's freaking awesome.

It has no 3.5mm jack. Type C usb cable and stereo speakers. It will be in three colours. Obsidian Black, Mercury Silver and Transparent Edition.
